Description
DMN (Default Mode Network) is the brainchild of Portland native Ian Wallace, who spent his early musical life as a choirboy and orchestral musician followed by a collegiate vocal jazz program. After too many lost weekends as a sideman in other local projects, Wallace decided to focus on his longstanding love of electronic music and try something new. He joined forces with longtime friend and bandmate Peter Lee (guitar/bass) and PDX music scene veterans Jason Grayle (drums) and Caroline Jackson (keys) to launch a project combining lush synthesizers, danceable rhythms, and live instrumentation.
DMN creates groove-forward, melody-driven dance music that bridges the gap between 80s radio-friendly new wave and contemporary indietronica. The band has released two EPs and a self-titled album, Default Mode Network (2023), carving out a space in Portland’s small but vibrant electronic pop scene. With their latest material, DMN delves into themes of growth, rejection, fantasy, and futility—always anchored by a backbeat and ready for the dance floor!
Camp Crush is a synth-pop duo based in Portland, OR, one that pays homage to both nostalgic New Wave and current day synth infused pop. Formed in 2017 by singer/songwriter/ keyboardist Jen Deale and drummer Chris Spicer, the husband-and-wife band launched onto the northwest music scene with their vocal-forward synth-rich pop tunes and dynamic live performance. Happy Mag describes them best: “The duo glide through a cinematic brand of indie-pop that is completely endearing and damn-near mesmerizing.”
Partnering with grammy-nominated producer Jorge Elbrecht (Japanese Breakfast, Sky Ferreira, Hatchie) and grammy-winning engineer & producer Rian Lewis (Doja Cat, Gorillaz, Chromeo), Camp Crush released their debut studio LP, Up at Night, on April 11, 2025. Following 4 EPs previously released by the band, Up at Night is the full realization of their sound as a duo. “This new record is our best work yet, pulling the threads on new wave, dark wave and current day inspirations,” Jen says of the new project. “Jorge, our producer for much of this record, really helped us realize the driving and edgier sound to much of these new songs. Balanced with our work with Rian Lewis, we’ve created a unique sound that we couldn’t be more proud of.”
Inspired by artists such as Kate Bush, Robyn, Lady Gaga and Depeche Mode the duo continues to evolve, bridging influences of the past to modern day pop sounds.
!mindparade blends elements of art rock, psychpop, and experimentalism. Based in Portland, Oregon, songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Alex Arnold collaborates with friends to flesh out the project's kaleidoscopic tunes, often utilizing lush string sections and expansive synth explorations. Their music has been described as “an ambitious low-fi bedroom symphony marked by flourishing psychedelic arrangements” (NUVO) and "a perfect slice of what’s best in Oregon Pop Music." (Oregon Arts Watch)
The project has been releasing self-produced records since 2012, originating in the fertile musical town of Bloomington, Indiana. Since relocating to Portland in 2017, they've been performing at venues and festivals across the West Coast, delivering captivating live shows via an ever-shifting setlist. In 2020, the group founded their own label imprint, Neon Underground Archives, in order to release their experimental records Hypertonic (2020) and Skyscapia (2023) and ekopsuƨqoʞɘ (2025).
