Rarely does a musician meet at the intersection of Country and Soul, yet over the years, this has become Dave Fenley’s specialty. A voice like his isn’t just heard—it’s felt. The Texas-born singer-songwriter first went viral after a groundbreaking, unforgettable run on America’s Got Talent and The Voice, mesmerizing audiences with his raw emotion and undeniable presence. He’s been rising ever since. Now, with new music to share with the world, Dave is geared to prove that his heartfelt sound isn’t just a fleeting moment—it’s a movement.
Born in the small city of Lufkin, Texas, Dave and his family bounced back and forth between Texas and Canada into his teenage years. A wanderer by circumstance, a storyteller by nature, Dave was a “quiet, skinny, church kid”, though by the time he moved back to Canada as a teen, he reinvented himself. “I became more of an athlete,”he recalls.“I wasn't just the guy who sang in church.” Raised on a blend of Country and Soul (with Hip-Hop, R&B, and Alt Rock sprinkled in), young Dave fronted a small Rock band in Canada during the famed Grunge Era of the mid-90s.“The first song I ever sang live was ‘Plush’ from Stone Temple Pilots at a talent contest at my guitar player’s Catholic school, neighboring my school,” he adds. From there, they began writing songs, scraping together $200 for studio time—a small price for what would become the foundation of his artistic journey.
