Description
Xiu Xiu Headlines The Ruins on a lineup of outstanding artists at the intersection of sound art. Arguably the most transgressive and unnerving group to emerge from the indie boom of the early '00s, Xiu Xiu's music blends stark beauty with unnerving vulnerability, gnarly electronica and vocalist Jamie Stewart's inimitable warble. To those who care, Xiu Xiu is everything - a group who captures a certain trembling, dark eroticism and confessional voyeurism, wrapped in a deluge of surging, wistful sonics. They're joined by Chuquimamani-Condori, the new project of the artist formerly known as Elysia Crampton. Chuquimamani's raw, maximalist collages of cumbia, noise, radio tags and more has resulted in some of the most affecting music of our time. Chino Amboi, formerly of NON Worldwide, completes the bill. On albums like "Airport Music for Black Folk" and "Paradiso," he established himself as a master worldbuilder, weaving electronic tapestries that evoked dense layers of text, subtext and mood.
