Description
**DIASPORA DREAMS** is a concert series featuring up-and-coming Filipino artists and musicians based in the GTA.
IN THE PHILIPPINES, PEOPLE ARE ONE OF THE LARGEST EXPORTS. THE MANY WHO HAVE DECIDED TO SETTLE IN SO-CALLED CANADA, ARE A PART OF THE DIASPORA.
"Diaspora" refers to the dispersion or scattering of a people from their original homeland or ancestral roots to other parts of the world. This scattering can occur voluntarily, through migration or exile, or often involuntarily, due to factors such as conflict, persecution, or economic necessity.
For Volume 3, DiDreams introduces Tylor Jay Santos and welcomes back Maria Aragon.
Born with an undeniable gift for captivating audiences, **Maria Aragon** is more than just a singer-songwriter; she's a storyteller. Hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Maria weaves her soulful magic through her debut EP ‘Room: The Live EP’, a stripped-back R&B and soul masterpiece that resonates with intimacy and emotion. With a voice both gentle and powerful, she shares her most heartfelt stories, filling any space-whether small or grand-with her disarmingly warm sound.
Growing up attending St Michael's Choir School, **Tylor Jay Santos** began a formal education in music performance and theory at a young age. Being afforded the opportunity to tour and travel, and perform on stages like the Roy Thompson, and Massey Hall as a child provided a unique experience. Tylor has written his own original works spanning genres of folk, soul, and house. His newer works exploring the second generation Asian Canadian experience, in search of identity and heritage, and honouring traditional values, while living in Canada. Tylor has also worked with other up and coming Canadian artists, Jon Vinyl, Eric Ryan, then ultimately getting placement on OVO Sound Radio (episode 69) working with GOVI and Stwo.
Presented by The Baby G.
