To be a tourist, gawking like a child at the habitats of other people, other animals, feeling excitedly estranged from your own familiar nest. To be a passerby, a traveler, a visitor, here on this heavenly body, on the inner perimeter of earth's sixth mass extinction. To grapple and argue constantly with the promise of inevitable death, decomposition, transfiguration, and rebirth. Tourist was written by Anthony Ruptak during his first years as a city paramedic in Denver, Colorado. Anthony has a uniquely proximal vantage of American suffering and processes his experience by writing music and disappearing into the wilderness with his wife and dog. These songs are the result. This album grapples with homelessness, addiction and recovery, poverty, loss and grieving, suicide and mental illness, and the paralytic spectatorship of a burning world beyond our saving. Sharing the same love of music and the same last name, Mike and Leny Trujillo combined forces to create a two-piece powerhouse driven by powerful backbeats and heavy riffs. The pair brought in bassist Mark Hibl in June 2021 to solidify the band's evolving sound. The band's new album '4 Arrows' (released August 25, 2023), features the singles "Down Below" "Deeper and Deeper" and "Mojo". The album was engineered/mixed by Grant Husselman, and was tracked live in a roofing warehouse in Denver, CO. The band started 2024 off by being voted No. 3 in the Indie 102.3 Best of Local 303 Listeners Poll and is currently nominated for "On the Rise" in the 2024 105.5 The Colorado Sound Music Awards. Their single, "Follow the Leader" was featured on Indie 102.3's "Local 303" in December 2020, charting in the top 20 on Colorado radio that month.
