**ANTHONY RUPTAK ALBUM RELEASE SHOW with PORLOLO & THE TRUJILLO COMPANY**
**ANTHONY RUPTAK:** There is this nameless nostalgia swimming through us when we find ourselves someplace new. Being somewhere, in some time, seeing and touching and breathing in a new environment. There is the intoxicating sensation of freedom and autonomy we get when we force ourselves to step outside of the routines of our automated, manufactured lives.
It's in standing alone at the ocean's edge, watching your feet get swallowed up by the cold, gritty sand. The dark and frothing waves ahead of you, repeatedly breaking up like so many generations of living things that came before.
To be a tourist, gawking like a child at the habitats of other people, other animals, feeling excitedly estranged from your own familiar nest. To be a passerby, a traveler, a visitor, here on this heavenly body, on the inner perimeter of earth's sixth mass extinction. To grapple and argue constantly with the promise of inevitable death, decomposition, transfiguration, and rebirth.
Tourist was written by Anthony Ruptak during his first years as a city paramedic in Denver, Colorado. Anthony has a uniquely proximal vantage of American suffering and processes his experience by writing music and disappearing into the wilderness with his wife and dog. These songs are the result.
This album grapples with homelessness, addiction and recovery, poverty, loss and grieving, suicide and mental illness, and the paralytic spectatorship of a burning world beyond our saving. The counterpoint: the escapism of love, human kindness, the search for safety, the innocence of animals, translations of birdsongs, the enormity of the glittery cosmos, the quiet brutality of the high alpine tundra, and the solemn blue mystery of the rising oceans.

**PORLOLO** is a true labor of love, a collaborative and ever-evolving project formed in 2002 by the eccentric and prolific Erin Roberts. At once deeply pensive and thoroughly irreverent, Porlolo is a powerful songwriting force, cranking out grungy, sometimes twangy, reverb drenched, pure pop hits.

Denver power trio, **The Trujillo Company** is making their own mark on the flourishing music scene in Colorado. Sharing the same love of music and the same last name, Mike and Leny Trujillo combined forces to create a two-piece powerhouse driven by powerful backbeats and heavy riffs. The pair brought in bassist Mark Hibl in June 2021 to solidify the band's evolving sound. The band's new album '4 Arrows' (released August 25, 2023), features the singles "Down Below" "Deeper and Deeper" and "Mojo". The album was engineered/mixed by Grant Husselman, and was tracked live in a roofing warehouse in Denver, CO.
The band started 2024 off by being voted No. 3 in the Indie 102.3 Best of Local 303 Listeners Poll and is currently nominated for "On the Rise" in the 2024 105.5 The Colorado Sound Music Awards.
In 2023, The Trujillo Company had their songs featured in rotation on 107.9 KBPI, 93.7 KAZY, Indie 102.3, and finished the month of September holding the 5th spot for Colorado radio play.
The band's previous single, "Novocaine" was recorded at the legendary Blasting Room in Ft. Collins. The song, engineered/produced and mixed by Chris Beeble and mastered by Jason Livermore, has been listed in the top 100 "Singles ranked by Spotify streams - July through September 2021."
Their single, "Follow the Leader" was featured on Indie 102.3's "Local 303" in December 2020, charting in the top 20 on Colorado radio that month.
The band's debut album "HOME" was hailed as a "dirty rock and roll masterpiece" by Bandwagon Magazine.
