Conducta
One of the world’s most respected dance music trailblazers, Conducta hasbeen setting pace for close to a decade now.Breaking through in the mid-2010s, it was in the latter half of that decadewhen the Bristol-born artist came into his own, releasing his mostsuccessful run of singles to date. As well as a succession of celebratedsolo hits, there was also ‘Whippet’, hisinescapable collaboration withSammy Virji, and ‘Ladbroke Grove’, a production for AJ Tracey that not onlywent double platinum in the UK charts, but officially now stands as thebest-selling UK garage record in history. As a DJ, Conducta's stock also sky-rocketed, with a packed worldwide diaryand a regular schedule of acclaimed DJ mixes, including a contribution tothe BBC’s flagship Essential Mix series and his Kiwi Krush mixtape-thelatter chosen as Resident Advisor’s number one mix of 2019. Subsequentyears would see him star on the cover of both DJ Mag and Mixmag, establishing himself at the top table of UK dance music talent.Of course, Conducta’s story is not complete without mentioning the labelhe formerly ran, Kiwi Rekords. Launched in 2019,Kiwi not only becamesynonymous with the cutting edge of modern UK Garage, championing themost exciting talent from the then-burgeoning scene, but also allowedConducta full control of his own musical narrative and messaging.Although he closed Kiwi in 2024, having completed the label’s mission, it iswidely lauded as one of the most important and exciting dance labels ofrecent times, winning Record Label of the Year at the 2020 DJ Mag awards.Conducta has continued his upward trajectory into 2024, expanding whathe does in pretty much every direction and introducing a more diversemusical palette-as exhibited on his genre-spanning ‘In Transit’ EP, aflagship five-track release that draws from all corners of UK soundsystemculture, and on a recent NorthAmerican tour which saw him play extendedback-to-back sets with both modern club pioneer Swisha and dance musicroyalty in Todd Edwards. As comfortable performing at New York’s mostrespected underground spots like Nowadays (which he sold out this lastMay)and Sustain Release as he is bringing down the house night after nighton a sold-out UK tour, Conducta has carved out an incomparable niche-and done it on his own terms.
