The seven bandmates became close friends while studying at the University of the Arts in center city and strived to develop a sound that combined their favorite genres. The band consists of Sophia Grosshauser (vocals/keys), Mollie Schechter (drums), Isabella Amada (bass), and Corinne Kite-Dean (guitar). Their music pulls from various genres including jazz, synth pop, funk, latin and more, leading to a sound that is difficult to define. Their first EP was heavily inspired by a cut and clean indie/R&B vibe, while their second flirts with more intense pop production while maintaining the harmonic and compositional palette of jazz fusion and contemporary R&B. They're a group that loves to reinvent themselves and stay fresh often, and hence, they’ve solidified their place as one of the heavy-hitters in the Philadelphia scene playing with notable bands such as Pom Pom Squad, Psymon Spine, and Fleece. Since then, she has released two more singles, with her mother creating the cover art for each, adding a deeply personal touch to Gelareh's evolving artistic story.
