Description
Matthew Field (vocals and guitar), Robin Brink (drums) and Ross Dorkin (bass) deliver a unique sound that effortlessly owns mainstream South African pop.Moved by poetry and art, Matthew took inspiration from a sketch of the Swiss town of Beatenberg, in a book of lectures by expressionist Paul Klee. Classically trained and locally inspired, they formed in 2008 with the express desire to introduce us all to something new.
After a few years apart, focusing on their individual projects the band reunited and released their brilliant new album ‘The Great Fire of Beatenberg’ on 5th April 2024 via Leafy Outlook. They celebrated the release with sell out shows at Melkweg in Amsterdam and the prestigious KOKO in London. Now after 10 years of The Hanging Gardens of Beatenberg the band are back to celebrate with some special shows.
