Kikashima, a Californian Japanese-Mexican musical powerhouse, is made of equal parts legacy and rebellion. Her band delivers truth via ballads and bangers that weave funky rock, jazzy soul, and indie folk. Based in Philadelphia, Kikashima has been featured on WXPN's Key Studio Sessions and NPR's Tiny Desk Contest On The Road. The band consists of Parker St. Charles on bass, Max Azarmehr on drums, Jackson Bell on lead guitar as Kikashima leads on vocals and guitar. **About IKE**
*johnfaye.com*
In the early 2000’s, on the heels of having re-kindled his career after the break up of his major label band The Caulfields, John Faye formed IKE - a band that would reach impressive heights in the Philadelphia independent rock scene from it’s debut album in 2002 up until the band’s swan song EP in 2011. With five studio releases, a live record, and a documentary DVD, IKE was one of the most prolific Philly bands of the era.
The group’s major breakthrough came with its second full-length album “In Real Life” (recorded and mixed at Studio 4 by legendary producer Phil Nicolo). The record contained the single “Into Philadelphia,” which was added into regular rotation at heritage rock station WMMR in 2005 as the lead track on the station’s local music compilation CD “Jaxon’s Local Shots Vol. 1.” The song remains a staple on the WMMR playlist to this day. On the strength of the single’s popularity, which included regular airings at major sporting events in the city, the band was offered opening slots with Bon Jovi at Atlantic City’s 10,000-seat Boardwalk Hall, and with the Hooters at the Electric Factory (now Franklin Music Hall). The band also played a special concert at the Philadelphia Spectrum as the closing act for a professional hockey game (“IKE on ICE”).
**About Judah Kim**
*https://www.judahkimmusic.com/*
Judah Kim is not special - at least in his problems and his insanity. It’s one of many lessons he’s learned from 12+ years of sobriety. This liberating notion has been the key to unlocking his artistic vulnerability. Kim, a proud Korean American from Philadelphia Pa, shares his inner world with the hope that others feel seen, connected and free. Despite his Asian roots, Kim’s voice and melodies have been described as very “British.” He blends the sweetness and accessibility from the likes of Paul McCartney, and mixes it with the conviction and power of 90’s Thom Yorke. His music showcases a rich tapestry of Indie Alternative Rock colours akin to Catherine Wheel, The Strokes, Weezer, Oasis, Travis, The Dears, Muse.
On stage, Kim is accompanied by guitarist Dan Hanrahan, bassist / vocalist Jude Alvarez, and drummer Scott Berry. These men have cultivated a special chemistry with Kim made apparent in their live show. The culmination of Hanrahan’s lifelong dedication to the guitar is an unwavering effortless execution. While Alvarez’s boundless kaleidoscopic energy, and stage antics respond as a yin to this yang. Berry forges this relationship into an iron clad bond amongst the band with his precision, fresh enthusiasm and passionate playing.
These 3 musical titans have been working with Judah Kim on his next record, Everyday Mania, due for a 2025 release.
