Description
Damaged Disco is back at Gold-Diggers on Thursday, February 27 for an amazing night of dark and dreamy synths and guitars with performances by Lost Tapes, Magic Wands, and Apology Kink, plus resident DJ DAT68.
Lost Tapes bring a lifetime of love for the disparate worlds of punk and early jazz into their own interpretation of New Romantic, experimental and industrial music. Their studio recordings are performed, written & produced by Shok, whose notable collaborations include David J & Daniel Ash (Bauhaus / Love and Rockets), Johnette Napolitano (Concrete Blonde), Neil Davidge (Massive Attack) and Douglas McCarthy (Nitzer Ebb). Shok has been the drummer of such bands as Mount Sims, Thrill Kill Kult, CrowJane and Jane Jensen. Lost Tapes live shows feature the accompaniment of June Kato on Bass and Lindsey Lemke on rhythm guitar / backing vocals along with synchronized video projections.
Magic Wands is an American dark dream pop duo formed in Nashville TN by guitarists and vocalists Chris and Dexy Valentine. Based in Los Angeles, the band is known for their shimmering and dreamy sound, which incorporates elements of gothic post punk and dark dream pop. Their music is characterized by its heavily textured guitars, droning synths, and ethereal vocals, which are designed to create an otherworldly atmosphere of mysticism, wonder, and euphoria.
Dripping with authentic vintage synthesizers and adorned with modern hooks, Apology Kink is the brainchild of musician Augustus Watkins, building on his pedigree as a singer-songwriter (Bijou Noir), producer (Tulip Tiger), and darkscene emissary (DEATHDANCE) while folding in shadowy theatricality and iconoclastic queerness. The double singles “Cult of Your Touch” and “Let Me Be Your Heartthrob” hit streaming services on April 19 via the record label GIVE/TAKE.
With resident DJ DAT68 spinning minimal wave, dark disco, industrial, and post-punk.
Damaged Disco night is a monthly event with live performances of minimal synth and post-punk artists curated by the Damaged Disco label, happening on the last Thursday of each month at Gold-Diggers.
