Es geht um eine rohe, reduzierte ƒsthetik - eine Mischung aus dunklen Texturen, hypnotischen Loops und einer eher introspektiven Energie. Er wird mit modularen Sounds, Field Recordings und Live-Processing arbeiten, um eine möglichst organische, fließende Struktur zu schaffen. Keine festen Arrangements, sondern ein Set, das sich im Moment entwickelt. VIL ist das Alias des Portugiesen Nuno Costa, der in den letzten Jahren mit seinen Produktionen auf Hayes, Klockworks und Planet Rhythm auf sich aufmerksam machte. Unter dem Namen Sinner gründete er zu Beginn seiner DJ-Karriere die lokale Crew Warface, die sich auf Dubstep, DrumíníBass und UK Garage konzentrierte. Im Jahr 2013 startete er das Projekt VIL, das sich hauptsächlich auf Techno, Electro, Breaks und House konzentriert, und fünf Jahre später gründete er mit anderen portugiesischen Künstler*innen das Kollektiv und Label Hayes. Sein Debütalbum Birds of Prey, das im November auf Steffis Label Dolly erschien, ist eine Mischung aus rohem, perkussivem, groovigem, eigenständigem House und Techno mit elegantem Detroit-Flavour.
