Description
From the mist of Camp Kennybrook to the fog of the Nowadays dancefloor, this Nonstop is a collaboration with Sustain-Release, a festival that has set the standard for DIY festival culture in North America, with Nowadays resident Aurora Halal at the helm.
8ULENTINA of Sillage, formerly behind Oakland’s Club Chai label and event series, opens things up. Combining non-Western sounds with club music, 8ULENTINA is interested in creating diasporic spaces. Brooklyn darlings Sekucci and Sterling Juan Diaz take over for peak club hours, bringing eclectic taste and a penchant for dancefloor euphoria grounded in tight mixing and a deep sense for groove, creating a sound that’s as fresh and dynamic as it is classic.
Shaytoon Records founder Sepehr takes over next for a sunrise DJ set. His live set in the Grove at this year’s Sustain-Release was as sexy as it was spooky and psychedelic, and we expect no different from this morning excursion. He’s followed by recently reunited techno royalty Sandwell District, the collective that originated from Female and Regis’s Downwards label and has since included Function and the late Silent Servant as members.
Starting at noon, Sustain-Release founder Aurora Halal and WRECKED founder and local sweetheart Ron Like Hell come back together for another extended back-to-back set – a pairing that has stirred the cauldron on dancefloors ranging from a previous Nonstop, to Brooklyn rave MERGE, to Draaimolen Festival x Sustain-Release.
Berlin-based artist and Time Passages label founder Binh takes it into the evening. A longtime resident of Berlin’s Club Der Visionaere and an expert in creative vinyl mixing, Binh has released his own tracks on labels like Cabaret Records, Perlon, and My Own Jupiter. Closing out the evening is Detroit-born, Los Angeles-based producer, composer, and DJ Laurel Halo. Drawing from a range of influences from Detroit techno to film score and jazz, she’s become known for combining hazy soundscapes and complex atmospheres with emotional resonance and dancefloor pressure.
