Description
Herrensauna resident Salome steps up to headline BASEMENT. A ferocious presence in the Berlin underground, Salome’s electro-streaked productions and concussive sonics split the difference between snotty power moves and deep, chasmic impact. The spirit of raw technoid raves is strong in this one, and, true to its name, last year’s “Hacker” EP on Herrensauna’s in-house label bristles with cyberpunk paranoia and speedy thrills. Annie Lew sets her sights on icy expanses and severe, cliff-face surfaces. The Infra resident has become one of the most regular names at BASEMENT in the last year, bringing a fresh perspective on timeless techno. Sevyn 0000 splits the difference with a gritty approach that goes straight for the jugular. Tracks like “Gender Update” and “Fowlplay” bristle with menace and smog-choked atmospheres, animated by dark urgency that is completely captivating.
Sedef Adasï takes the reins at STUDIO. Her flowy mutability touches on ruff & nasty house, wide-ranging disco rarities and electro funk from across the spectrum. She knows just how to push it, playing with a keen sense of space and seamlessly woven propulsion that draws dancers irrevocably into her orbit. As the primary organizer behind HAMAM Nights and a resident of the beloved Blitz club, Adasï has positioned herself as an indispensable cultural force in her hometown. The world is taking note. Meilgaarden drops in with some serious fizz and liquid groove. The Sound Gymnastics founder pulls liberally from some of the most iridescent sounds of the early ‘00s, tapping into a rave energy whose cheeky bombast and flowy swagger maintains a futuristic edge. Manu Miran completes the picture with a proper session of kinetic fervor. True to his signature party’s name, the Visceral founder goes in on rushing, high-BPM rave, sweaty broken beat and electric house.
