Description
Following up on his outstanding set at WIRE festival last spring, MARRØN headlines BASEMENT. A co-founder and resident at Amsterdam’s Erste Communie, MARRØN pays tribute to ancestral lineages with heaving, percussive techno that shivers and ripples with tightly wound precision. In his own words, his music draws inspiration from ”the powerful and strong-willed Marrons who freed themselves from slavery to live freely in the primeval forest of Surinam.” This is riveting, hypnotic music with a livewire charge. You’ve been warned. Fellow Erste Communie resident AMORAL joins for a dose of ice cold loop techno. AMORAL takes the audience deep into a world of fragmented whispers, penetrating shadows and mesmerizing apparitions. Fresh off his recent installment in BASEMENT’s podcast series, Holden Federico returns to the room for a session of proper techno in the blistering ‘90s lineage. Federico has committed himself to the genre’s most rivetingly distilled iterations.
The Carry Nation are some of the best to ever do it in STUDIO. The duo has returned to the room again and again, each time infusing it with the absolutely infectious sense of joy and loving presence that house music promises at its core. It’s impossible not to lose yourself in the radiance of their combined chemistry, which weaves a tapestry of both rich emotional resonance and undeniable corporeal groove power. Simply put, The Carry Nation plays from the heart and leaves it all on the floor, everytime. Physical Therapy matches the fluency and the generosity of spirit, but brings a counterbalancing druggy strangeness to the mix that draws you in. His proclivity for dubby asides and syrupy moments is matched only by his masterful ability to seamlessly stitch it all together. ANTOJITO wades into the deep end of house, queer club anthems and trippy, hypnotic bangers.
