Description
“It's on the fly, it's direct. It's exactly what I can do at that moment. Nothing pre-programmed. Nothing pre-planned. And I like it that way.” This is how DJ Bone described his approach to DJing in a 2018 interview, and it couldn’t be more accurate. For years, he was revered for his four-deck vinyl sets, and Bone’s technical mastery is matched only by his passion for Detroit’s singular lineage. He describes his sets as a “tapestry” that includes the full history of his hometown’s musical legacy, reaching far beyond techno for inspiration. “I’ve been there for almost my entire life. 30-something years of living in Detroit,” he expounded, and his music revels in hometown pride. Get your dose. Mike Servito shares some bonafides. Also raised in Detroit, he’s been one of NY’s most important and influential DJs of the last two decades. A mainstay of The Bunker NY, he set the standard for his cohort and has maintained his bite well into his career. Servito is a modern master of feverish, old school techno, always playing with a sharpened edge. Rose Kourts completes the bill with a dose of unmitigated, exploratory techno. Her run at the club has seen her pushing and pulling audiences with the fluid flexibility of an emergent master.
fka.m4a crosses the pond to headline STUDIO. The Berlin-based artist drizzles a neon sheen across the entire mix, calling for the glamorous spirits of disco, hi NRG, italo and their many hedonistic children. “The primary message of my music is about love and conveying emotion, and bringing that together in a room,” he once said. “ That’s one of the biggest reasons why I do what I do – to show that vulnerability.” Cocktail d’Amore resident Luigi Di Venere is back for another round. A master of the joyously sleazy and naughty, rolling funk, Di Venere embodies everything that makes Cocktail such a beloved institution. Cosmo balances it out with some pure soul. Her sets can move anywhere from euphoric house to raw, pumping acid to moments of effortlessly cool downtempo, hip hop and more. Cosmo always keeps it real.
