Description
Bassiani returns to BASEMENT for another takeover. These nights are always standouts, highlighting the kinship between the two clubs. Newa is, of course, a resident of both institutions, and for this one she goes b2b with another Georgian favorite and fellow Bassiani resident NDRX. It’s not the first time they’ve paired up, with their collaborative spirit and shared ethos resulting in a perfect alchemy of their signature sounds. Each embraces a tight, propulsive drive that requires masterful restraint and more than a little attitude. Newa’s penchant for both spacious minimalism and pounding peak time liftoffs sits right at home with NDRX’s baked-in grit. Bassiani continues to represent with two more residents: Kancheli also returns, this time to go b2b with Nebbieri. Kancheli has made his mark with a range that can stretch from the meditative to the euphoric to the infernal without missing a beat. Nebbieri counters with a dose of the unhinged. Her sets push the techno form to its breaking point, finding new ground in deep, captivating strangeness and tense, paranoid surges of energy.
Gabrielle Kwarteng has become one of the most respected house DJs in the underground. A beloved presence with significant acknowledgement from many of the most revered institutions in electronic music, Kwarteng’s reputation rests on her virtuosically fluid approach to genre blending and storytelling. 98dots returns to the room for a bout of swervy, mutant dance. The Georgian artist, now based in NY, taps into the depths of the uncanny and febrile for a serious hit of rolling, evocative house. DJ Surge is another Georgian artist with ties to the Bassiani. An DJ with a taste for the classics, Surge favors a vinyl-heavy approach and a no-frills attitude that prioritizes quality over all else.
