Description
ALTÆR celebrates five years with a lineup that surges with raw power. Lady Starlight is one of the premier luminaries of hardware-based electronic live sets, and she is bringing the full arsenal to BASEMENT. Having originally come to prominence for her collaborations with Surgeon, Lady Starlight has since carved out a niche all her own. Her works get straight to the point, with finely crafted, classic synth tones and pumping analog low end driving the music deep into the night. Her “Capricorn Rising” EP on Tresor last spring burns with witchy menace and hardened urgency. Amsterdam’s STERAC has been a central figure in the city’s illustrious techno scene, working across electro, pad-heavy Detroit-inspired techno and heavier, darker wormholes. His releases on Delsin feel like timeless transmissions, in conversation with the Drexciya multiverse, jacking, Chicago inspired beatdowns and his own country’s rich lineage of visionary, futuristic techno. Auspex tightens the screws, with a heavier touch that burns with menacing, spiritual conviction.
A major force in the Berlin queer underground, David Elimelech’s timeless house sets speak to the inherent joys of a propulsive groove, a jazzy sample and a wiggly acid line. There’s a bright, gleaming sheen to his selections that goes straight back to the heart of the ‘80s, but Elimelech never fails to sound current. A co-founder of Launderette with Roi Perez and Partok, Elimelech has emerged as a guiding light for the next generation of dancers in Berlin and beyond. HUNNI founder Loren keeps the night rolling. An artist with deep connections to Detroit’s iconic lineage, Loren plays with an airy sweetness and rugged weight that flows with pitch perfect elegance. S'aint Panic debuts in STUDIO. An untenable presence in the NY underground, S’aint Panic touches down with firm, gentle power.
