Description
As Mui Zyu, British Hong Kong artist Eva Liu constructs compositions blending phantasmagorical strings with tape-mangled drum machines and traditional Chinese instruments to create an unnerving sonic foundation where sugary pop melodies can contrast on top creating an existential balm through music.
While her debut album, Rotten Bun for an Eggless Century delved into identity and cultural displacement, the new sophomore LP, 'nothing or something to die for' addresses the chaos of contemporary existence looking outward. This album isn't one of despair, though; it's a poignant message of encouragement, urging listeners to find solace in connections – both with others and within themselves.
Renowned for her unique blend of quirky, piano-forward indie folk, Anna McClellan returns with three new singles "Jam the Phone," "Hold You Close," and "Like a Painting." Her emotionally rich sound resonates with the complexity of artists like Jon Brion, Sidney Gish, and Lomelda, inviting listeners to turn vulnerability into strength. The now Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter reconnected with long-time collaborator Ryan McKeever and Another Recording Company Studios (Omaha, NE) engineer Adam Roberts to produce the new material.
Presented by Desert Daze & El Cid.
