Description
Hold on tight: Daria Kolosova returns to BASEMENT. A modern phenom who has mastered the higher BPMs, Kolosova brings the frenetic rush of rave to the fore. Coursing energy collides with old school techno, modern bass hybrids and keyed-up modern sonic weaponry to take you straight to the heart of darkness. The Kyiv native has distinguished herself at every turn, playing standout sets at WIRE, RUSH and across the globe in every club of consequence. She’s joined by frequent partner-in-crime Etapp Kyle, an artist who is as comfortable tapping techno’s reverberant undertones as he is banging it out. Kyle’s productions are often defined by their striking beauty and immersive sonic depth, marrying the narcotic undulations of ambient with the shivering, insectoid percussion of IDM, but it’s all held together by the unbridled menace of pure techno. kozha makes their debut, infusing their sets with a searing, anti-colonialist spirit. An emergent voice in the NY underground, kozha pushes the music with a liberatory vitality.
ISAbella returns. The MARICAS co-founder is a self-described purveyor of “sexy lesbian house.” It’s as accurate a description as you could hope for; ISAbella goes all in on slinky grooves with textures that envelope the listener. Dark undercurrents give way to bumping, teased out breaks and luscious pads. ISAbella spares no bite, though. Her sets maintain a raw edge, even when she’s playing it cool. Sekucci and Sterling Juan Diaz’s b2b has become a must-see in NY. The hyped up, unrelenting energy they bring is infectious. You can hear each one egging the other on, upping the stakes with one scorcher after another. KIA - the duo of Donofrio and Gag Ørder - lands in a not-dissimilar pocket, pulling on tight, classic house with no deficit of horny abandon.
