Description
Wrecked launches into the new year with a lineup that cannot be denied. DAIYAH and Furtive join in BASEMENT, each representing a different side of techno. DAIYAH’s DJing sets the pace and the intention, with a ferocious, unrestrained mix of modern impact and timeless rave power. Furtive takes things in a more psychedelic direction, with a syrupy and evocative grooviness that coalesces into a technoid form of striking intensity. Their set at Honcho this summer was a standout, pulling from across the spectrum in a riotous affirmation of queer joy. Resident Ron Like Hell completes the lineup - always deep, always unique, always on point.
Carlos Souffront is one of those DJs whose work is whispered about, analyzed and revered. The Detroit native is a digger of the highest order, with the ear for flowy juxtapositions and the febrile imagination of a true artist. A set from Souffront defies genre, ignores eras and shows you just how powerful music really can be. It takes an artist of high caliber to pull together a set as cohesive and life-giving as Souffront does, and he does it again and again. Post-punk, goth, house, and of course Souffront’s sprawling collection of acid records all make an appearance, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Souffront goes deeper than deep. Ryan Smith taps into a similar ethos. The Wrecked co-founder and resident is back in STUDIO. His canny sensibility and generous approach has helped to define Wrecked as one of the city’s essential events.
