Sarah Klang has always had a talent for autobiographical songwriting, as seen on her acclaimed debut Love in the Milky Way (2018), which won Best Album at the Swedish Grammis awards. This continued with Creamy Blue (2019), her second album, which earned two nominations at the Grammis awards. While her sound had previously drawn from a mix of influences (‘60s and ‘70s pop, Americana, and an undercurrent of country), VIRGO (2021) broadened her scope to include elements of ‘80s synth-pop and won Best Alternative Album at the Grammis awards. Klang’s latest album, Mercedes (2023), was inspired by her experience of becoming a first-time mother to her daughter, for whom the album is named. It earned Sarah yet another Grammy nomination and received praise from Wonderland, The Line of Best Fit, and The Sunday Times. In February 2025, Sarah Klang returns with her fifth full-length album, Beautiful Woman, produced by Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter and composer Eric D. Johnson (Fruit Bats, Bonny Light Horseman). Beautiful Woman is an expansive exploration of womanhood – from childhood to motherhood, via teenage years, relationships, and beyond. Klang digs deep into her own life on this new album to unpack the very essence of what it means to be a woman today.
