Indie songwriter Hazlett was born and raised in Australia but if the past few years are anything to go by, he’s very much bloomed in Sweden.
An old friend, one big break-up and playing Oasis’ “Wonderwall” in pubs three nights a week was the unplanned cocktail of moments that saw him throw adulthood to the wayside and venture to the other side of the world. While he was up in Sweden Hazlett’s unique brand of “Indie Ballroom Folk” really came to life after spending time with his close friend and now collaborator Freddy Alexander.
A lot has changed since then and what started as just writing songs to “figure out some things in his head…” has now become a whole world of music and beautiful detail to move through. Even though the nerves never quite go away, there’s this newfound quiet confidence to the troubadour from the land down under. You may not have met, but sometimes when you’re listening to Hazlett he feels like the only friend you’ve ever had.
Hayden Everett is a Seattle-based artist who seamlessly marries folk storytelling with his background in jazz piano performance, blending the production style of Justin Vernon with the musicality and storytelling of Bonnie Light Horseman. Hayden studied jazz piano performance at UCLA and has released 4 EPs to date. His debut EP, produced in Brooklyn with Jeremy McDonald (Kevin Garrett, Vulfpeck, Beyoncé), was released in 2019. It was featured on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy and the project garnered praise from Earmilk and Atwood Magazine, as well as radio play from KCRW and Live105. Hayden's second EP, released through the UK-based and Apple Music-owned label Platoon, received acclaim from Wonderland, Ones To Watch, Line of Best Fit, and others. His latest EPs, Silver Line and I Miss The Sky, were released through Nettwerk Music Group and feature performances by JT Bates (Bonny Light Horseman, Big Red Machine, Anaïs Mitchell) and Kevin Farzad (Sure Sure, Valley Boy).
