Join us for a dance party celebrating The Grateful Dead's music, featuring live and unreleased gems from the Grateful Dead as well as remixes of the band's influences and those they inspired -- all blended together by DJ Takimba and his hand-selected live musicians featuring members of Garcia Birthday Band, Family Mystic, Bodhi Mojo & Sean McLean and the Vibetenders!. They will be blending and reimagining remixes from the Dead, Janice Joplin, Steely Dan, Jefferson Airplane, Deep Purple, Phish, Goose and more. Guest musicians include: Adam King (keys - Garcia Birthday Band), Sean McLean (saxophone - Sean McLean & the Vibetenders), Marcello Guitron (guitar - Family Mystic), Owen Kelly (keys - Bodhi Mojo), Jack McGrane (guitar - Bodhi Mojo), Maxwell Cutty (samples & bass), Matty Lala (guitar), & Chuck Kwaske (percussion). TAKIMBA Since 1999, Takimba has been behind the decks. Having seen the Grateful Dead since 1989 their major influence on Takimba‘s music is evident. His mixing style, song blending, and the incorporation of live musicians in his sets all reflect this inspiration. For over a decade, Takimba has been re-mixing the music of the Grateful Dead and reimagining songs from newer jam bands as well as other classic rock legends. With his project, Takimba and friends he merges the worlds of DJs and Jam Bands, adding subsonic frequencies to classic cuts with a live improvisational element that ensures every performance is familiar yet fresh and unlike any other.
