In this most special show, the first in our Starlight Jazz series, Pianist and Composer Jon Cowherd assembles an all-star jazz ensemble, with legendary drummer Brian Blade, renowned bassist John Patitucci, and trumpet virtuoso Nicholas Payton. Pianist Jon Cowherd's blissful jazz compositions create a musical experience like no other. Cowherd also performs as co-leader, with Brian Blade, of The Fellowship Band - one of the most important and inspiring ensembles on the international music scene today. Brian Blade is known as one of jazz':leading drummers.This culminated in his being ranked as the top drummer in the 2024 Downbeat Critics Poil. With Cowherd, he co-founded the Fellowship Band and, during this time, he also became the drummer for the Wayne Shorter Quartet. John Patitucci is a 4-time Grammy award winner bassist, has been nominated over twenty times, and has played on many other Grammy award-winning recordings. He has performed and/or recorded with jazz giants such as Dizzy Gillespie, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, and countless others. Two-time Grammy Award-winning Nicholas Payton is a multi-instrumentalist, who brings his mastery of the trumpet to the tune of Jon's compositions. Payton's collaborations includes greats such as Elvin Jones, Marcus Roberts, Herbie Hancock, Roy Haynes, and Joe Henderson. Food & beverage are available for purchase at the show.
