Pitchell’s Anthology collection covers decades of workincluding “Alone,” dedicated to his late friend who planned on opening up ablues club with him, being heartfelt blues with tasteful guitar accents.“Beautifully Broken” is a touching piano ballad. “American Way,” written forthe James Woods film An American Girl, is a patriotic soldier tribute, perfectfor Memorial Day and Veterans Day airplay. The guitar and organ blendon Pitchell’s version of “Soulshine” captures The Allman Brothers Band’sfoundation on this Warren Haynes composition, with Michael Allman as guestvocalist. It is said that when blues legend James Montgomery plays theharmonica, he "brings it on home." Whether it's recording with KidRock, sitting in with Gregg Allman, or fronting his hot band of thirty years,Montgomery plays with authority. While growing up in Detroit he, learnedfirst-hand from the masters - James Cotton, John Lee Hooker, and Jr. Wells - atthe legendary "Chessmate." Over the years, he's carried on in thetradition and continues to be a vital presence in Blues as one of the mostdynamic performers on the scene.
