GARAGE ON BECK & LNE PRESENTS
THE TRIGGER LOCKS
25TH ANNIVERSARY & BROKEN HALO REMIX RELEASE SHOW
The Trigger Locks were a pioneering Alt
Country/Rock band that thrived in the Salt
Lake City music scene during the formative
years of 1999 to 2004. Hailing from the
deserts of Southern Utah, the band members
ventured to the Salt Lake Valley with dreams
of making it big. The group was founded
when Matt Hansen and Nate Torgerson
began crafting songs together and decided to
form a band.
Initially, the rhythm section was comprised of
high school seniors Daniel Young and Ben
Childs. However, due to their age, the band
faced restrictions playing in local bars. To
overcome this, Matt and Nate recruited
renowned local Ska drummer Bucky Cash and
Nate’s brother Mike Torgerson on bass to fill
out the lineup. They also brought in SLC
music iconoclast Dan Salini on occasion to
contribute fiddle and lap steel .
The lineup evolved when Bucky moved on,
leading the band to bring in their roommate
Jared Johnson as the new drummer. The
band’s final and most notable lineup was
solidified after a memorable New Year's Big
Top Tent show in their hometown of St.
George, hosted by Sean Taylor. Sean joined
the band on keyboards, completing the
ensemble.
The Trigger Locks released two well-received
albums: “Broken Halo,” recorded by Juddy
Anderson in their basement, and “Gold @
Anything,” produced by Luther Russell and
recorded by the legendary Larry Crane in
Portland, Oregon. To mark their 25th
anniversary, “Broken Halo” is undergoing a
much-needed remix; and will be available on
all streaming platforms.
