Herring) grew up in rural NC and began writing verse at 14.In college he formed the band Art Lord and the Self-Portraits, which would later become Future Islands, whom he still tours and performs with today. After years away from the form and burnt out from touring, Hemlock picked up the pen again in late 2012. By 2014 and onward his feature work has become a staple in the underground, working with artists such as R.A.P. Ferreira, Open Mike Eagle, Madlib and JPEGMAFIA to name a few. His latest, The Fall Collection, is 10 years of life and work that reflects on 35 years of life, speaking on childhood disillusionment, drug use turned to drug addiction, guilt, shame and suicidal thoughts. He finds strength in himself to carry on while looking into the eyes of a killing nation, feeling the heaviness of humanity and finally letting go of it all. Producer Height Keech's affinity for psych guitars and hard rock blasts inject a new life into songs about darkness. He adds a hard edge to soft sentiments, his tracks enhancing the feelings of haziness circling a woozy young mind, now and then, trying to remember. We can’t do it on our own.
