Sea CavesIn late 2019, Sea Caves released Across the Water and received glowing reviews and a dedicated fanbase in the Pacific Northwest. As momentum was building and they were set to embark on a West Coast tour, the pandemic brought a quick halt to their plans. During this time, as some relations frayed, Sydney Rohrs and Shiloh Halsey kept meeting at the park and writing songs, and a new album began to take shape. The result is a set of heartfelt songs colored with rich instrumentation, lush harmonies, and catchy melodies, all interwoven with Rohrs’ dreamy vocals and themes exploring the disconnection from community and family and the longing for things past and yet to be known.
The intricate guitar lines and soaring melodies we’ve come to know from Sea Caves shine through on the album as does the always engaging drum work of Cameron Jones (formerly of Pinback and Physics). Behind the scenes, the production team includes Cameron, Shiloh, and Mike Cresswell, a Latin Grammy Award-winning and Grammy-nominated mixer, engineer, and producer known for his work with a diverse range of artists including Sun Kil Moon, Mike Patton, Céu, Blackalicious, and Lyrics Born. Sea Caves is rounded out by Jason Crowgey on bass and Austin Bowles on keyboard.
LASKAThe songwriters in question are Hannah and Mookie Morton. The work in question? That one takes a little more juice. Sometimes their work presents as harmonies and melodies meticulously placing themselves like the careful legs of a balletic spider in awe of its own symmetry and progress. Sometimes their work arrives as an overdue outpouring. Starting somewhere in the body - ecstatic as the seed of a pure and wordless truth, then erupting as a cathartic yawp. Bonded by blood, forged in psychic battle, sisters Hannah and Mookie channel their lived in experiences into music that glides through genres like a canoe on a quiet lake. Stage tested and bad to the bone. LASKA is the sound you hear when you're inside of an indelible memory. They are currently based in Portland, Oregon and are backed by Steve Harrington on bass and Kai Nealis on drums.
