FUTUR.SHOCK w/ PAF & A—Z
Chapter Two “ TRUE STORIES”
Chapter two continues our collaborative focused season by inviting two hybrid curatorial platforms; Czech based PAF and London based A—Z.
At the core of Futur.Shock is collaboration and community building. These local and international partnerships drive us, progressing our commitment to presenting cutting-edge contemporary art, music, and performance-based practices. PAF is an international platform for moving image, animation and contemporary art, based in Czech Republic. Their main event is the annual PAF Olomouc – Festival of Film Animation and Contemporary Art. A—Z is an exploratory/nomadic curatorial platform founded by Anne Duffau, who is a cultural producer and researcher. A---Z aims at opening up to audiences by sharing discursive practices in order to challenge preconceived ideas on race, gender identities and the so-called history in terms of power relationships.
The evening will feature SNAP, a dynamic dance performance co-created by visual artist Valentýna Janů, dancers Monina Nevrlá and Zizoe Akopjan Veselá, with music by DJ New Magic Media. Exploring body objectification and defying gender and movement norms, SNAP blends diverse dance and music styles, pushing boundaries for an unforgettable experience.
This edition will also showcase an intimate live sound performance by Johannes Tröstler, The Stream Which Flows Upwards, as well as an experimental video Cauchemar: Spectral Shapes on Infrared, by Lukáš Prokop (h5io6i54k), Holy Similaun, Seraphim, DJ YTP, and Ronce. Blending a music video with a sci-fi parable, it navigates an eerie, abandoned Zone with unsettling visuals. The main character explores unstable urban structures and hidden mutations, creating a haunting fusion of sound and imagery that captivates.Note: Contains flashing lights.
The event will be weaved together with a DJ set by the prolific Kenichi Iwasa.
The program is part of the Breaking Banality: The Balance of Sameness III, IV project no. 0314000341, supported by the National Recovery Plan (EU, Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic).
