Unsound NY kicks off their 2024 edition with a collaboration with Dripping. The night is a perfect blend of what both do best, freely mixing raw, cathartic experimental electronics with the most forward thinking DJs and club live sets. Poland meets NY with a headlining b2b set from VTSS and Tygapaw. VTSS’ growth from hard-and-fast techno breakout to dynamic, defiant quasi-pop star has been a surprise to no one. From her first transmissions, VTSS exhibited a boldness and fearlessness that has never wavered. Tygapaw has simply been one of NY’s most vital electronic artists of the last decade. With standout releases on definitive labels like Naafi, Fabric and Nowadays’ own Mister Saturday Night, Tygapaw’s output has embodied a bracing, revolutionary spirit. Ilian Tape duo Atrice exemplify searing, 22nd-century high-definition bass weight impact. Across a score of EPs and collaborations, they've crafted a ruthlessly careening fusion of thundering dubstep, raw techno and crystalline sound design. They perform a live set. Nowadays resident (and Dripping veteran) Shyboi goes b2b with Bobby Beethoven, fka Total Freedom. Each artist bends the dancefloor to their will. Shyboi taps her Caribbean roots and an expansive history of rave liberation, while Bobby Beethoven collages and disrupts with truly captivating, surprisingly elegant chaos. Poland's 2K88 opens the club program with a live set. His recent album "Shame" – released on the Unsound label – saunters through a foggy, grimy cross section of junglist freneticism, hip hop swagger and downcast ambiance. Concerts features bela, presenting music from their 2024 masterpiece "Noise and Cries 굉음과 울음", co-released by Unsound and Subtext, which drags the listener through harrowing, incantatory fusions of black metal, rap and, true to its title, noise. A surging and frankly unhinged LP, "Noise and Cries 굉음과 울음" is an evocative statement of cathartic audio terror. 7038634357, on the other hand, is perhaps best known for their "Neo 7" album on Blank Forms. The record is a mournful and absolutely heart-stopping trip that mixes gentle, earnest harmonies with torrential deluges that push any sound system to its limits. All the while, 7038634357 holds your hand, guiding the listener through overwhelming sonics into a place of transformation, reckoning and even bliss.
