Description
A vibrant double bill of alt-folk from Latin America features Colombian rising star La Muchacha and Chilean group Pascuala Ilabaca y Fauna.
La Muchacha, born Isabel Ramírez Ocampo, blends Colombia’s protest-folk legacy with modern flair, incorporating traditional instruments like the tiple and tambora with electronic elements. Her songs, anthems for peace and activism, resonate with universal appeal through rhythms rooted in folk, jazz, blues, and hip-hop. This marks her Florida debut.
Pascuala Ilabaca, a celebrated Chilean singer-songwriter and acordeonista, reimagines folk traditions with influences of jazz, pop, and rock. Known for her vivid voice and vibrant red accordion, she honors Chilean legends like Violeta Parra while infusing cumbia, cueca, and global rhythms into her performances with her band, Fauna.
Presented in partnership with FundArte’s Out Loud in the Tropics, Live Arts Miami’s Mundo Series, Miami-Dade County Auditorium’s Away From Home Series, and Rhythm Foundation.
