Description
Sunny Sweeney - Live in ConcertSunny Sweeney, a genre-bending singer-songwriter with roots in Texas and Tennessee, returns with her fifth studio album, Married Alone. Co-produced by Paul Cauthen and Beau Bedford of the Texas Gentlemen, this album showcases Sweeney’s finest work yet, blending confessional songwriting and vivid narratives in a loosely conceptual exploration of loss and healing.
The project began with Sweeney revisiting her vault of unreleased songs, some over a decade old. Her approach of writing from the heart rather than for specific projects has given her a rich collection of material. Married Alone opens with "Tie Me Up," a lively track that sets the tone for an album that, despite its theme, isn't somber. The production by Cauthen and Bedford shines throughout, making each track feel equally at home in a juke joint or a festival stage.
One of the album's highlights, "A Song Can’t Fix Everything," features Cauthen and delves into the limitations of music to heal past wounds. Tracks like "Want You to Miss Me" and "Easy as Hello" showcase Sweeney’s vocal and lyrical prowess, reminiscent of Stevie Nicks. "Someday You’ll Call My Name," co-written with Brennen Leigh, captures the longing for recognition and sets the tone for the album.
The title track, "Married Alone," which features Vince Gill, struck a personal chord with Sweeney, reflecting her own experiences with divorce. This deeply emotional song, combined with the album's rich sonic palette, underscores the themes of heartbreak and resilience.
The album's production faced a major challenge when Jeff Saenz, the intended mixer, was severely injured in an accident. His recovery and eventual return to help finish the album added a profound layer of emotion to the project.
With Married Alone, Sweeney also begins a new professional chapter, surrounded by a team of strong, talented women. This album solidifies her place as one of country music’s most compelling storytellers.
Sunny Sweeney continues to captivate audiences with her unique blend of Texas and Tennessee influences, creating music that resonates deeply with themes of love, loss, and healing.

The Black Buzzard at Oskar Blues Denver is a music venue born out of a drink and a conversation about the old Denver music scene. Created by Kellner Schoenke at their Longmont restaurant, The Black Buzzard drink fused bacon-infused bourbon and ten fidy imperial stout. Chef and Oskar Blues fooderies partner, Jason Rogers, shared a sip with Kellner, and they realized they had both frequented the same closed blues bar on 16th and Market Street, Brendan's. Years later, Brendan's became available, and it seemed like the perfect time to put some music back into the heart of LoDo. They named the venue after the drink that started it all. Today, located blocks away from Coors Field and Union Station, The Black Buzzard at Oskar Blues Denver hosts buzz-worthy musicians of all genres from Denver and beyond.
