About Dan Goode
Instagram | Spotify
Since 2012, Dan Goode has been writing and producing his own music. Raised in the Jamaican
Pentecostal church, music would encompass and eclipse Daniel almost from birth. The
soundtracks to years of Sunday morning services, midweek prayer meetings, and Saturday
morning choir practices would trickle deeply into the ears of a young Daniel, and steep his
artistic interests, broadening his range of musical preferences. While he was taking in these
different tunes for years, it was the melodies and instrumentation that would grip the attention of
the young man. In his formative years, he would become a singer and musician at his church,
studying under Percess Mattison, Stephen and James Poyser, Karen Vega, and Angelo
Simpson, among others. Not long after, his older brother Balmour, who is also a
singer/songwriter in his own right, would introduce him to the live music circuit, where he would
dub the little brother 'Dan Goode when introduced to a crowd. He kept the name as a nod to
Romans 8-281 and would soon branch out and learn from giants and local legends like Steve
McKie, Hezekiah Davis, TreWay, and The Now Generation while on the well-known Philly open
mic scene. Daniel has since produced for and performed with multiple local artists.
