Description
Dayvid Lundie-Sherman, famously known as Saymyname, is undeniably the pioneer of #hardtrap. This title isn't just bestowed; it's earned. His breakout moment came in 2012 with a hard-hitting remix of Showtek's "F.T.S.," blending Hardstyle with Trap to create what we now know as Hardtrap—a genre that has since reverberated across the global festival circuit. LA Weekly recognized his impact, crediting him with reshaping dance music for the better. Dayvid's journey began in Humboldt, California, where he was raised in a musically inclined household. By age 5, his DJ father had already ignited his passion for music, and by 12, Dayvid was experimenting with DJing. Throughout high school, he juggled music with sports and street art, eventually diving deeper into music theory and production, transitioning from Garage Band to professional tools like Acid and Ableton. Attending Chapman University, he balanced academics with music, winning the prestigious Insomniac Discovery Project contest in 2013, which catapulted him to a standout performance at EDC Las Vegas.
Post-college, Dayvid worked tirelessly at Guitar Center by day and produced music in his bedroom by night, fueling his dream. He eventually left his job to embark on his first Australia tour, setting the stage for a meteoric rise. Today, with headline slots globally and hits like "Wanted" with Mercer and remixes for Dj Snake and Mercer, Saymyname dominates the dance music scene. Standing tall at 6'5, he is not just a genre pioneer but the definitive originator of Hardtrap, with his beats now gracing the sets of industry icons like Tiesto, Diplo, and David Guetta. As his stature and influence continue to grow, Dayvid Lundie-Sherman is poised to reshape the dance music landscape for years to come.
