'TREKKIE TRAX'S GUIDE TO BROOKLYN'S BREAKS/ELECTRO FRONT LINE'
JIALING is a modern, trippy soundscape centered on breaks, electro, and techno. The mix of alternative, left-field development driven by light beats, bleepy, acidic chaos, and witty breaks will allow you to enjoy the pleasurable elements of dance music in a multifaceted way while listening to it with an indescribable sense of floating and immersion.
JIALING is a Taiwanese-American producer born in Baltimore and based in Brooklyn, with monthly residencies on Balamii radio in London and Hyde FM in San Francisco. In November last year, he invited Seimei and Oyubi, who will appear on this program, to Balamii. After studying for 15 years as a classical cellist, he turned to visual and sound arts. His background in the studio, where he discovered club music and Ableton, is reflected in JIALING's music, which is a DJ/production that crosses hallucinatory soundscapes with nostalgic landscapes to create a unique visual music for the listener.
Check out Seimei and Oyubi's Balamii archive mentioned above on Soundcloud. The core of TREKKIE TRAX, andrew's world-class UK funky/breaks, crosses with Carpainter's own breaks and techno/rave productions, and the result is an amazing set that shows strong beat control and high skill, and invites depth and exuberance out of restraint. The cross between andrew's world-class UK funky/breaks and Carpainter's own breakthrough work and techno/rave is a strong base for this party, and the lineup of DubGuy, an electro/bass music genius who just relocated from Osaka to Tokyo, shines as a contextual design feature.
Mars89's numerous mixes uploaded to Noods Radio, where he has a residency, are avant-garde constructions of suspenseful soundscapes, including wave, body music, experimental, and dub. It is a different texture from JIALING and promises an interesting session that looks at the intersection of body music and techno with electro and breaks.
R Lounge's third installment of the TREKKIE TRAX pres series will once again be a heartfelt play through of the label/crew's rich musicality, sharp expertise, and flexible curation.
