Description
Herrensauna returns for another full club takeover. The Berlin queer party has been the standard bearer for visionary techno in its global capital, bringing an uniquely material touch and an aesthetic rooted in radical art, avant garde fashion and countercultural movements into the rave space. Co-founder and resident MCMLXXXV follows up his recent RUSH appearance with a set in BASEMENT. His feverish, darkly lurid sound manages to channel a rippling psychedelia while keeping pace with more bluntly impactful strains. Salome is a kindred spirit, infusing a huge, swinging funk into her vicious techno sets. Her own productions integrate electro snarl and a classic rave menace into a modern techno landscape. NY’s Fashion returns to the club for a session of searing, violent collisions.
CEM’s touch is immaculate. As the other half of Herrensauna, he matches MCMLXXXV’s tight nerve with an expansive palette and virtuosic blends. He’s a true sonic alchemist, able to mix between genres and tempos with a seamless power and an ear for the haunting, riveting and strange. Herrensauna resident DJ Saliva is back as well. Gritty, electro’ed machine funk and stomping, punked-out bangers served hot. One of the key members of this key crew, Saliva, true to name, brings a syrupy and viscous sheen. x3butterfly is a true breakout. Emerging from the teeming NY ecosystem, their mixture of modern, hybrid sounds with jacking house percussion and pockets of unabashed soul makes them a true standout.
