Description
As much inspired by the dirge of the Berlin club scene, as by the angular sound of 80s Post Punk; The Usual Boysʼ Psychedelic Indie Rock sound is characterized by janky guitars and driving bass lines which underpin a dark post-ironic take on a seemingly unending ascent into adulthood.
The band began as an eccentric live act and quickly became known for their anxious on-stage energy. They cut their teeth opening for artists such as The Undertones, The Happy Fits and The Bluestones, as well as playing sold-out shows in legendary Berlin venues such as SO36, Frannz Club and Cassiopeia.
Now on 12.04.2024 they are releasing their debut album “Failing To Be”; a 3-year labour of love recorded DIY by the band in the abandoned office building of the Former East German Ministry of Foreign Trade (KfA). This thirteen track album also includes their biggest singles yet: “I Want What You Have” and “How High” which have been featured on Spotify Editorial Playlists (Fresh Finds GSA & Alternarock), and played on BBC Introducing.
Support will come from Red Ivory, a 4 piece indie rock/ post-punk band from South East London with a “contemporary take on 90s grunge” – DIY magazine. Formed in late 2021, their music incorporates strong basslines, melodic vocals, "big riffs and whiplash drums" to create a sound that is “distinctive and fresh.”
