Description
What happens when two of the most prominent and beloved figures in house music -- who have been close friends since 1988 -- reunite in Brooklyn? You'll have to come out to SILO on May 10th to find out.
**Derrick Carter**, who would rather emphasize his interest in shoes than his status as a legendary DJ, became a strong presence in Chicago's underground dance scene in the 90s after landing regular stints at Shelter, Foxy's, and Smart Bar. Once Derrick's prodigious skills and distinct personality were exposed to the world, the rest was history. Though he doesn't perform very often in Chicago anymore, when he does he attracts large crowds. Most of the time he works in Europe, where he's become a minor celebrity among dance-music aficionados.
Modern day record minstrel **Mark Farina** has thrilled crowds globally for several decades, at one point entertaining over a million fans per year. After starting out in Chicago, where he and Derrick Carter became good friends, he eventually ventured on to San Francisco in 1992 to begin a residency at The Oasis. As one of the most recognizable names in dance music history, Farina is known for his unique style of mixing jazz, downtempo and house as well as for creating the widely celebrated Mushroom Jazz mix series and club night.
Presented by SILO Brooklyn.
