Description
**Hiroko Yamamura** is incredibly funny, one of our favorite people, and not surprisingly she's also a phenomenal techno DJ.
Taking inspiration from classic science fiction and dark anime, **Hiroko Yamamura**'s introverted life and immersion in fringe nerdery alongside an introspective outlook are evident in her demeanor and the way she gravitates to outsiders within the community. Once she hits the decks, the isolation melts away as she lights up dance floors with an homage to the House, Acid and techno sounds that shaped the Chicago Rave Sound. One of her main missions is to demonstrate how much music can help you cope with the darker times in life, creating an expressive outlet, and showing people who feel like they might not fit that they have an important place in the culture.
Ann Arbor's **Matthew Dear** is an internationally-acclaimed electronic music composer, DJ, songwriter and bandleader. Dear co-founded Ghostly International Records and its more dance floor-oriented offshoot, Spectral Sound. Aside from releasing seven full-length albums, Dear has produced remixes commissioned by The XX, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Spoon, Hot Chip, The Postal Service, The Chemical Brothers and more.
They're joined by mutual friend and Yamamura collaborator, the Brooklyn-based Basement resident **Justin Cudmore**.
Presented by SILO Brooklyn.
