Description
Portugal’s Nørbak headlines the first Altær of 2024. Across releases for Mord, Soma and - the sign of ultimate respect - Jeff Mills’ Axis, Nørbak’s holds nothing back. His gritty, bloodthirsty techno announces itself with a minimum of fuss and a maximum jolt to your system. On tracks like “Reverse Engineering” or “Force Faith,” he pares back his arrangements to the bare essentials and then makes each of those elements shine. This is focused music that will leave you breathless. Esther Dune makes her debut. Get ready for a high speed demolition derby - Dune draws on lineages of acid and whiplash techno and delivers the payload without an ounce of hesitation. Auspex keeps the energy at a peak, pushing into the incantatory and sublime.
Clarisa Kimskii steps away from her day job as techno summoner to get into a house-y groove at STUDIO. A DJ with years of experience and the crates of vinyl to prove it, Kimskii’s innate versatility and command of the form will make this a special one. Colored Craig’s classic house selections read like a who’s-who of innovators: Kerri Chandler, Masters at Work and Crystal Waters are some of the artists you’re likely to hear. But Craig’s charisma and flow make this much more than a greatest hits. Craig’s sets are love letters to the body high of true deep house. Mike Servito completes the lineup in style. The Bunker mainstay has the market on jacking nastiness cornered, and over the last two decades has become one of NY’s essential artists.
