Description
subMerge is a side project from the queer underground techno party, Merge, which is dedicated to presentations of ambient, experimental, and lower-tempo music. subMerge aims to cultivate sonic liminoid experiences in intentionally mindful spaces, seeking release, deeper access to the personal, interconnected and ethereal.
For this edition of subMerge, however, we're excited to kick the night off with lower-tempo and eventually build to dance.
Kicking things off with a foray into his ambient collection is threehz, resident of the uber sweet dream/self party, which has created a consistent home for narrative-driven techno and other sounds - dreamy soundscapes with a splash of playful psychedelia.
Making her US/New York debut with a special live ambient performance is the fabulous Polygonia, a multifaceted DJ and producer/musician from Munich. The Berghain regular is a natural storyteller and her music, whether through DJ sets or in her own productions, evokes warm and congenial emotion. Her EP "Bloom" on Aaron J's Sure Thing imprint is a perfect display of her willingness to strip genre conventions and just be.
At the helm, and fresh off the release of her highly regarded new album "Please Touch" comes our all time favorite to do the thing - Rrose, who is no stranger behind the Merge decks. The album is a glistening fusion of ambient and experimental dance, where she seamlessly builds and breaks apart tension in the most distinctive ways - truly a chef's kiss.
As a perfect release to the night, Merge resident Ne/Re/A brings us home with one of her effortless, yet poignant blends of ebm, timeless techno and punchy esoterica.
