On 17th June, our lovely, long running party Tangent returns for a midsummer special, as our hosts, and two of our fave DJs, John Gómez & Nick The Record, spin beautiful records through John's Condesa mixer All Night Long.
Tangent was born when two good friends wanted to create a space in which they could share their favourite records on an incredible sound system. So, Nick the Record and John Gómez carried a set of speakers into a small basement with no passing trade and begged their friends to come to dance. Five years on from their first party, Tangent’s friendly and cooperative spirit remains the same after their move to The Pickle Factory.
Nick the Record is a record dealer extraordinaire who has been heavily involved in the underground music scene for the past 25 years, with a client list that reads like a who's who of the worldwide DJ scene. He has long held key residencies in Japan, but recently Nick has seen his recognition as a DJ broaden to all corners of the globe, while simultaneously working on his edit label Record Mission with Dan Tyler from the Idjut Boys.
John Gómez is another global crate digger whose journey into the lost electronic music of Brazil has resulted in two flawless “Outro Tempo” compilations on Music From Memory. Whilst assembling these records over the past couple of years, John’s been quickly elevated to the upper echelon of dancefloor diggers, as a DJ capable of both challenging listeners and tearing up dancefloors.
With a wealth of digging experience between them, Tangent is the place where these two DJs choose to shine a light into the deepest corners of their collections.
