Description
Dee Diggs is back with her first residency night of the year! As always she’s giving us insights into her inspirations and musical journey with her choice of guests for the night. This edition brings us Colored Craig, a long time DJ, dancer and choreographer from Los Angeles and also Dee’s mentor - Bob Diesel from Boston.
Dee first encountered Craig play for herself when they played together at Club Toilet, the famed Movement afterparty/ rave in Detroit in May 2022. There was a pure, powerful, and positive frequency sent forth during Craig’s set. Tears were shed. He seems to have this effect, to play this House music from the heart in a way that resonates.
He recently had a stellar NYC debut, but you must hear him in the Sound Room to really get the feeling of how his all-vinyl sets encourage the dancer to connect and transcend.
Bob Diesel is actually New York native transplanted to Massachusetts! His over 4 decades of experience as a DJ shines through when he hits the booth. This is one of Dee Diggs’ first DJ mentors in the game. They met while Dee was a young DJ living in Boston who started attending a popular Tuesday night party named VAULT, which Bob Diesel co-founded with another dj/producer/technologist named Beyun. Bob was an enigmatic host and brought as much warm personality to his soulful dj selections as he did his hosting duties. This guy has deep cuts for days and his sets always reveal gems and references from House Music’s storied history on the East Coast of the US.
Dee is bringing us an hour opening and an hour closing sets showing us the range that has taken her to play clubs like Panorama Bar at Berghain in Germany and De School in Amsterdam. There is an ever-changing pulse that matches New York's energy and influence on her sets and her taste, how the mood is switching suddenly, disparate genres blending like magic, and the overt indulging of the emotions possibly wrung from the tracks chosen. Hot off of another overseas tour- Dee lands at home to give us evocative realness and damn funky time with all her diggs in the Sound Room. Limited tickets will be sold at the door.
