Arca
Arca is one of the world’s most transformative musical talents. Since breaking through with her 2012 Eps Stretch 1 and Stretch 2, she’s created an unprecedented body of work drawing from club music, experimental noise, and the ballad tradition of her native Venezuela, while reaching beyond music to encompass performance, visual art, and technology.
As a collaborator with Björk, Kanye West, and FKA twigs, she’d stretching contemporary music’s sonic boundaries and helped set the sound of her era. As a Latinx nonbinary trans woman, she’s redefined the role of the diva for a new generation. Her latest work is Kick i, the first in a series of upcoming works, each with its own sonic theme. For the first installment, Kick i, Arca pursues pleasure, dignity, and dance floor liberation by refracting club music, reggaeton, and pop through her radical vision.
Kero Kero Bonito
Kero Kero Bonito are a band from London, England.
The trio met on an internet forum in 2013; singer Sarah was born in Nagoya to a Japanese mother and British father, before moving to Kenilworth, UK at the age of 13. Producers Gus and Jamie have been friends since school.
They've released a mixtape (Intro Bonito, 2014), two albums (Bonito Generation, 2016 and Time 'n' Place, 2018) and singles including "Flamingo", "Trampoline" and "Only Acting".
Their latest release ‘Civilisation' features Kero Kero Bonito’s most ambitious work yet via complex arrangements and their grandest song themes thus far. It demonstrates a return to electronic music after the indie rock exploration of Time ‘n’ Place, though retains shades of that album’s dusty patina via its use of obsolete music technology. The result is modernism hewn from lost technology, like a parallel universe that never existed, while showing off the band's skills as electronic musicians.
From their inception KKB has always been focused on creating a dream vision of pop music — acknowledging its deep history while challenging the status quo. While they’ve explored nostalgic rock, kitsch pop and psychedelic experimentalism, their trademarks — subversion, idealism, craftsmanship — are ever-present on Civilisation.’
Andy Morin (of Death Grips, solo set)
Producer and sound engineer and founding member of the the acclaimed experimental rock group, Death Grips.
A2B2.org, started as a creative outlet for Morin himself, has now grown into a massive online alternative creative community. Founded in 2010, the website has stacked up 11 million + views, 78k + visitors, and 10k + registered users and 22k+ published notes.
In November 2020, the A2B2 community organized its first online streaming festival, A2B2 Night of Fire, broadcasted through Twitch and YouTube. With 11 hrs, 37 artists, and no sponsors, A2B2 Night of Fire raised $14k for Los Angeles Downtown Women’s Center.
Eartheater
Eartheater distills a three-octave vocal range, experimental digital production and classical composition into works suspended between obsessively detailed sonic tapestries and almost recklessly gestural electronics. Her recorded output is enhanced by her viscerally emotive live performances that capture her fearless physical investment and gut-wrenching vocal sincerity.
Machine Girl
Equally apocalyptic and ecstatic, the music produced by Brooklyn’s Machine Girl (Matt Stephenson) is an explosive, cathartic blend of footwork, jungle, digital hardcore, and rave.
