From the Posies:
After a two-year absence from the live stage, we are extremely honored to have our return take place at the Wild Buffalo, the beating heart of our home town’s music scene. It’s a historical event, and we encourage everyone to come and enjoy an epic night of music in a safe environment…the way it should be! Let us join together in song once again!
The Posies:
Following up on the success of their 30th Anniversary Tour in 2018, The Posies’ founding members Jon Auer & Ken Stringfellow plus drummer Frankie Siragusa went back into the studio in 2019 to work on an album of new material, their first since 2016’s acclaimed “Solid States”. Although the chaos of the pandemic slowed progress at certain points, the album is in the can and should see the light of day in 2022. A long road to get here, and hopefully a long road of continued creativity ahead, the band is ready to reemerge as the world begins to reopen and embrace live music once again.
Emerging from the fertile musical grounds of the Pacific Northwest in 1988, the Posies have released eight albums, including “Frosting on the Beater” from 1993 which contained their breakthrough single “Dream All Day”, and is namechecked as an all-time favorite by a diverse list of musicians from Gary Lightbody (Snow Patrol) to Ed O’Brien (Radiohead) to Queen Latifah. The band continues to tour globally and record and release music to a devoted fanbase, who revere the band for their peerless melodic gifts, thoughtful and intricate lyrics, and penchant for vocal harmony. Their live shows are known to be high energy affairs where the sweetness of their vocal interplay collides head on with distorted guitars, explosive drums, and now, in the modern age, computer assisted electronic rhythms and textures.
The band’s Bellingham roots are deep — Jon & Ken grew up here, and their debut album “Failure” was recorded in the home studio Jon and his father put together here in town. Their first live shows were here in town. 33 years later, The Posies now reside in three different countries on two continents but still consider the Pacific Northwest that raised them — Bellingham, and later, Seattle — home.
