Even though this year's Coachella festival has been pushed back to October due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a documentary about the history of the beloved annual ritual will still come out on the day the fest was to kick off, April 10.
Coachella: 20 Years in the Desert opens with voiceover from Billie Eilish saying, "Everybody knows what Coachella is," over footage of her headlining set last year. "Even if you don't care about music you know." The three-and-a-half minute teaser then shuttles between bits of Jimmy Kimmel, Family Guy and Pres. Obama dropping mentions of the fest before a quick montage of performances from Travis Scott, Madonna, Paul McCartney, Radiohead and Beyoncé crushing it.
There is, of course, footage of the legendary Tupac hologram that blew minds in 2012, Lollapalooza co-founder Perry Farrell singing the praises of needing to get it exactly right at Coachella, as well as Post Malone hitting the stage along with memorable sets from Drake, Guns N' Roses, AC/DC, Daft Punk, Childish Gambino and Moby, who reminisces about playing the first one in 1999.
The YouTube Originals doc will be available to stream on April 10. This year's Coachella festival is slated to roll out on the weekends of Oct. 9-11 and Oct. 16-18.
