JOY OLADOKUN was 10 years old when she saw a video of Tracy Chapman singing and playing guitar, inspiring her to do the same. "Seeing a black woman playing folk music and owning it brought something to life in me." An Arizona native of Nigerian descent, Joy brings a pop voice to folk songwriting. In 2019, Joy toured with Wrabel, Billy Raffoul, and Penny & Sparrow, in addition to releasing songs that have been featured on playlists across Spotify (Out Now, Broken Heart) and Apple Music (Today’s Easy Hits, Breaking Pop). Currently living in East Nashville, the singer-songwriter aims to embolden listeners to live more honest lives. “Weaving my story or my fears into the music often comes from the motivation of, ‘what did I need when I was a kid that I didn't have?’”
