Dee Montero doesn’t stand still for long. He’s the Belfast-born house-head who went from listening to mix-tapes to digging in the vinyl crates and then made the giant leap to global music selector – supported by some of the industry’s biggest players from Lee Burridge and Behrouz to Pete Tong. At the end of 2017, he received the biggest accolade yet: Tong’s Essential Tune Of The Year on BBC Radio One for the string-fuelled, epic end-of-nighter ‘Halcyon’, released on Solomun’s acclaimed DIYNAMIC MUSIC imprint.
He’s also performed several times at Burning Man on the Robot Heart and Carl Cox Playground stage (a career highlight if ever there was one) and also at Hï with Joris Voorn and Nic Fanciulli in Ibiza. These shows dovetailed with him go-ing solo as a producer and critical releases such as ‘Full Body’ on Saved and the epic ‘Vedra’ on Knee Deep In Sound (he would return to the label again in 2019). We also can’t forget his other key releases, which include the Mixmag approved ‘Lakota’ (which hit the Big Tunes Top Ten) on Lee Burridge’s Tale & Tone imprint as well as the piano- flecked Beatport-trouncing releases ‘In The Wild/Polaris’ and ‘Headspace’ on Anjunadeep
Dee also returned to Knee Deep with the percussive melodic house monsters ‘Pangaea’ and ‘Azure’, supported in all the right places and especially by Hot Since 82. And somewhere along the way got to remix one of his all-time favourite club anthems, the Disco Evangelists/David Holmes 90s rave classic ‘De Niro’ which took Dee and his fans back to the very beginning of his career and was released officially on Positiva.
