Description
Nothing is a bigger turn on than mystery. And the mystery is working for DJ duo ATLiens (ostensibly from Atlanta). The masked music makers wear black clothing and silver alien faces with glowing red eyes, and ensure nobody gets a clue to their identities by running a tight ship - no sneaking backstage on their watch. Interviews are eschewed or answered with yes and no questions only. Security is tight. Even googling ATLiens is hard because you'll mostly get hits about Outkast. And this is all working toward growing that sexy mystery. Despite keeping a low profile personally (whoever they might be), the two DJs are gaining quite a following, and quickly. Their heavy bass music has even been featured in a phone commercial. The duo decided to hide their identities so fans would focus solely on the music, not the men behind it. And with a steady stream of headlining shows and big festivals, that approach has worked. ATLiens latest release Ghost Planet is a trip, and immediately listenable even for the most casual of EDM fans. Demonic sounding chants, experimental beats, wide drops, post apocalypse themes - it's all there to assault your ears and make you think what the fuck is happening? Behind it all, the duo is probably two nerdy goths who love new wave and video games, but on stage with red eyes aglow ATLiens' trappy bass music makes the dancefloor go crazy.LA's Yakz is a DJ/producer who knows how to make dark sounds. Starting in metal, Yakz (real name David Mitori) has brought a nihilistic edge crafting gritty, grimy EDM sounds. Sparing and rhythmic, Yakz tunes are a basshead's wet dream.
