Joined by Solar and Wale, French DJ and producer Joakim will jump behind the decks with an unpredictable set at the Beach Club Friday, 4 October. A real DJ’s DJ, Joakim is sure to bring his groundbreaking style to the forefront, making this month’s Night Moves party one event you won’t want to miss.
Joakim
Joakim, a French DJ and producer, is hard to categorize. This classically trained pianist is recognized for the odd and unconventional song structures he creates. From the blending of genres and incorporation of jarring stylistic switches in his music, to being a self-taught graphic designer and label founder, it’s clear why Joakim is world-renowned as a genuinely creative experimental artist.
Solar
A DJ recognized for his sunset sets and bold creativity, Solar’s dedication to his art is shown through his electrifying music. Growing up in San Francisco, he was exposed to diverse music styles and these roots are prominent during his performances. Solar’s blend of techno, disco, house, and electronic genres, combined with his punk energy, has cultivated a large dance-party following.
Wale
Jakarta-based Ajamu Adewale—known as Wale or his other DJ moniker, Law—has been making music with his friends since his teens. Now formally recognized as the Discouture crew, they’re frequently found dishing out left-field tracks that lean towards house, Balearic and disco sounds. Wale adds to it with musical nods to his Indonesian-Nigerian heritage, imbuing African or Middle Eastern elements into his sets.
